How does Social Eyes support schools and their Social Communication needs?

Social Eyes was set up in September 2016 to provide schools, originally in the Greater London Borough of Bromley but increasingly beyond, with dedicated and tailored outreach support for pupils/students with Social Communication needs within pre-schools, primary, secondary, post-16 and special schools/specialist provisions.

This independent service has evolved from very many years’ experience and practice as an LEA ASC/inclusion support service advisory teacher working with a range of fellow professionals from across health, education, Social Care and the voluntary sector in supporting both statutory and non-statutory needs.  Ensuring that families are fully engaged, informed and supported is at the very heart of this vision of this service's partnership working.  The service attends courses and conferences, works in partnership with a range of professionals and bodies and engages with a wide range of professional dialogue to ensure it remains current in the field.

A very flexible way of working allows support to relate to the needs of the pupils/students and is very much tailored to the working of individual schools.  The service strives to inform and support staff in their knowledge and practice with Social Communication and SEND and in sharing their practice with colleagues.  As such the service strives to both encourage and inspire whole school inclusive practice to empower every child.

Social Eyes supports schools through a model of:

  •  pupil/student caseload observations
  • Social Skills training and practical advice
  • staff advice and tailored resources
  • parent/carer feedback/planning meetings
  • informal written feedback as working documents
  • formal report writing for outside agencies/Statutory assessment
  • attendance at interim/annual reviews/TAC and case conference meetings
  • working in partnership with other independent professionals and voluntary services
  • multi-agency case working and training sessions
  • tailored staff INSET training - twilights and CPD days/events for SMT, teachers, TA's, MDS and governing bodies
  • family parent/carer themed and discussion workshops
  • support with whole school inclusive practice
  • support with inclusion weeks/events
  • Social Communication professionals Forums
